Angels
“The angelic tradition, or the angelic intelligence is that which connects all the worlds and very often visits this world and enters into the world, into the battlefield of this world. Angels exist to help transform our consciousness, to open our awareness - and contemplation of their beauty purifies us. But some angels enter right into the war of the world and some are deeply wounded. There’s a picture of mine called ‘The Wounded Angel’ [1967], where the Angel has returned to Paradise, and is lying on the ground of Paradise, wounded, resting rather like a butterfly whose wings have been injured. Now this vision of the Angels is an expansion of our awareness where the Angels are instruments of transformation and through their flow of love they are very close to us. Angels are living at a higher speed than we are, and because they are at a higher speed, we don’t see them. And that’s why we call them invisible. They are here as part of the transforming process of the universe… They are the vision of God, the winged thoughts of the divine mind. When Francesca Woodman leapt to her death at the age of 22, she had only been a photographer for five years. Yet critics praised her blend of “mythology, literature, painting and photography” and marveled that she “had the rarest link with her medium.” On Thursday, Francesca Woodman’s retrospective will open at the Guggenheim, featuring 120 photographs and six newly discovered short films. - Gothamist

But hearts another measure beat. Each body, wingless as it lies,
